Open Question: Why do so many Christians ignore these verses when it comes to crosses and crucifixs?

3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
1 Timothy 2:9
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
Thanx.

no,the photo is not of me.Its of an Amish woman. An interesting point though.The Amish were modest when the choose their to wear plain peasant dress in the 1600's.Many Amish-Mennonites and Conservative Mennonites fear their dress may be scaring outsides om the faith, but its worth noting that o those Mennonite churches that have adopted mainstream dress and tiny headcoverings in the end lost their identity,headcoverings,modest dress and faith .
Some Amish-Mennonites do feel that there may be too much emphasize on outward appearances, but dressing plain reminds them who the are, reminds them not to let themselves down in public lest their faith get a bad name and reminds them not to become too worldly or too proud.
What happens when their church lets of this is ,people begin to think well we got rid of the headcovering and cape dress, we have cars and electricity, maybe we should get nicer cars and TVs.And so on..
That said... I hope to join this church : http://www.beacham.org and the women in that church wear modern versions of cape dresses and small veils..
Maybe I should ask a Question here about it?
